Cleansing milk gentle make-up removal, no tight skin.

Cleansing milk dissolves make-up and grime with oils rather than lots of foam – ideal for dry and sensitive skin. What makes a good one, and which we recommend.

What we look for

Skin type
The drier your skin, the richer the milk can be. Combination skin gets on well with lighter milks.
Fragrance
For sensitive skin, choose fragrance-free – fragrances are the most common cause of irritation.
Removing
With lukewarm water or a damp cloth. Residue left on the skin can be a problem if you are prone to breakouts.
Eyes
Waterproof mascara usually needs a bi-phase eye make-up remover.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have to rinse off cleansing milk?

We recommend it: either with lukewarm water or a damp cloth. Some milks are meant to be wiped off with pads – if so, it will say on the pack.

Is cleansing milk suitable for oily skin?

Light milks, yes; rich ones, less so. For oily, blemish-prone skin a mild cleansing gel usually feels nicer.

How often should you use cleansing milk?

Every evening if you wear make-up or sunscreen. In the morning, water or a very mild cleanse is often enough.

Cleansing milk or micellar water?

Milk is more nourishing and suits a thorough evening cleanse. Micellar water is handy for in between – more in our article on micellar water.
