Cosphera Hair Vitamins helpful for a deficiency – little else.

Cosphera is one of the best-known hair vitamin brands. What’s in the capsules, who they really help and why a blood test is often the better first investment.

What’s in Cosphera?

Cosphera describes its capsules as a complex for skin, hair and nails with more than 20 micronutrients. For your hair, biotin, zinc and selenium are the most interesting: all three contribute to the maintenance of normal hair. Then there’s millet extract, a popular ingredient in hair supplements.

The crucial caveat: these nutrients help your hair if you’re lacking them. If your stores are well stocked, an extra capsule adds little. A genuine biotin deficiency is also rare – more on this in biotin for hair loss.

When hair vitamins make sense

  • Worth it after a strict diet, with a very one-sided diet, or if a blood test shows a deficiency.
  • Of little use for hereditary hair loss: a widening parting, a thinning crown, a receding hairline.
  • See a doctor if hair loss is sudden, heavy or patchy – see causes of hair loss.
  • Don’t combine several supplements containing the same vitamins. High-dose biotin can distort lab results.

Cosphera and alternatives

1LADUTI Hair Serum

If there’s no deficiency

LADUTI Hair Serum

Rather than going via your stomach, this serum works directly on the scalp: apply it in the evening and leave it on overnight. It combines AnaGain™ and Procapil™, without minoxidil or hormones, for women and men. No. 1 in our comparison.

What we like

  • Works where hair grows
  • Studied active ingredients
  • For women and men

Keep in mind

  • Studies on the individual actives, not the finished serum
  • At least three months of patience

Cosphera: frequently asked questions

How quickly do Cosphera Hair Vitamins work?

Hair grows about one centimetre a month. If a deficiency was the cause, you’ll see a change after a few months at the earliest.

Are Cosphera Hair Vitamins vegan?

According to the brand, yes.

Do hair vitamins help men too?

Yes, if there’s a deficiency. With a receding hairline and a thinning crown, the cause is usually hereditary – in that case, products for the scalp make more sense. Our guide to hair loss remedies gives an overview.

Vitamins or serum?

Vitamins correct a deficiency; a serum works directly on the scalp. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. For gradually thinning hair without a deficiency, we recommend the serum.
