1st place: Clinique facial cleanser femme

Clinique is something like the top dog in the skin care sector. Almost all products enjoy great popularity and are consistently convincing. In our test, the facial cleanser (the one in the pink tube) comes in first place. It is suitable for all skin types: Oily skin, dry skin and combination skin, i.e. skin with dry and oily areas and also some impurities.

The Clinique facial cleanser is a concentrated creamy foam cleanser that easily removes even heavily adhering make-up without putting too much strain on the skin. This is important so that the skin is relaxed when you apply a care product afterwards. The price is quite high at just under 20 euros, but thanks to the good cleansing effect and the high concentration, a tube lasts a very long time. And it is worth investing a little money in good products for your face!

  • Very concentrated, lasts very long

2nd place: AESTHETICO active foam

In this product segment, deep pore cleansing is particularly important. The fine active foam penetrates well and effectively helps to regulate your skin.

Above all, however, it reliably removes impurities when used regularly (in the morning and evening) and helps you to achieve a significantly more beautiful complexion. That's why many experts trust Aesthetico and recommend the active foam. The keyword pH-value is also important. The low pH value of the foam soothes the skin, which makes the product ideal for use before wet shaving to avoid skin irritations. A top product that will also inspire you as a user!

3rd place: NIVEA Nourishing Cleansing Oil

Facial cleansing oil

Of course, we also have a tip for women (and men) with dry or sensitive skin. The nourishing cleansing oil by Nivea is the perfect facial cleanser if you need a product that gently cleanses and nourishes your skin at the same time. The cleansing oil even removes waterproof make-up without any problems. Also praiseworthy: the oil is easy to wash off after use, a cotton pad is not necessary. According to the manufacturer, the secret lies in the oil-to-milk formula. If you add a little water to your face after applying the cleansing oil, it turns into a milky texture - ideal for cleansing the skin. Macadamia and coconut oil serve as a base, which also gives the cleansing oil a pleasant fragrance. After use, the face feels very well cared for, is more than adequately moisturised and can thus recover ideally. Especially as Make-up Remover the Nivea oil is therefore an absolute tip!

  • Removes even stubborn make-up
  • No cotton pad needed thanks to oil-to-milk formula
  • Cares for the skin very well

4th place: BABOR CLEANSING HY-OIL

babor

Babor is a large and well-known make-up brand with a wide range of products. The Cleansing Hy oil reliably removes impurities and even stubborn make-up - you can feel Babor's experience in the professional make-up sector here. In addition, the oil for facial cleansing is suitable for all skin types and is vegan (it contains soy, sesame and peanut oils). Why is it still only good enough for 4th place? For one thing, according to the manufacturer, the product should be used in combination with a Phytoactive product. This costs another 20 euros, which makes the Babor facial cleanser very expensive. Secondly, the oil is, well, oily. You can't blame an oil for that, but it's not everyone's cup of tea, which is why we put this otherwise convincing product at the bottom of our test.

  • Vegan
  • Effective for impurities and make-up
  • Ideally to be used in combination with Phytoactive

5th place: Beurer FC 95 face brush

Facial care

In 5th place in our test is a completely different product: the Face brush by Beurer, available for a good 55 euros. The fact that this brush made it into the test is a distinction for its quality and our experience with it, which we definitely didn't want to deprive you of. The Beurer brush works with three speed and two rotation levels, which, in combination with the four brush attachments, allow for much better skin cleansing than would be possible by hand. There is a separate brush attachment for each purpose. A firmer one for exfoliation, a standard attachment, one for sensitive skin and one for deep pore cleansing for oily skin. This works very well, the brush cleanses efficiently and the skin feels wonderfully cared for afterwards despite the brush rotation. The battery life is beyond reproach and the Beurer brush can even be used in the bathtub. An exotic that can convince.

  • Leads to a clearer complexion
  • Four attachments for different applications
  • Long runtime and waterproof

What is facial cleansing?

The face is the only part of our body that is exposed practically all the time. In addition, there are about 50 facial muscles that constantly move your skin. The skin is subjected to a correspondingly high level of stress - especially in the area of the body that plays the most important role in external attractiveness. The truth is: hardly anyone has perfect skin. Hormones, weather conditions, eating habits - the list of factors influencing our skin appearance is long. Fatally, bad skin leads to a vicious circle: you try to conceal your bad skin by applying make-up. As a result, the skin cannot breathe and - if bad products are used - is additionally irritated when you remove the make-up, which worsens the skin's appearance even more.

The solution to this problem is a good, caring and gentle facial cleansing.

There are many products for facial cleansing, all of which have in common that they should free your skin from skin type-dependent problems such as pimples, oily or dry skin and, if necessary, also gently remove stubborn make-up. The type of product depends on the skin type. Foam is often used for deep cleansing of impure skin, while oils are available for dry and sensitive skin. Some manufacturers, such as Babor in our test at number 4, also combine two products to cleanse the skin effectively. For sensitive skin, we recommend a Face scrubas these can intervene more deeply.

What makes a good facial cleansing product?

There are several aspects you should consider when choosing your facial cleanser. Cleansing is obviously at the top of the list. Does the product remove make-up completely? Do your skin problems diminish as a result of using the product? Directly related to the cleansing performance is the next aspect: How does the skin feel after cleansing? In combination with cotton pads and a little rubbing, most products remove make-up completely. Facial cleanser even stubborn make-up, but your skin is red and burns afterwards. A good facial cleanser is characterised by the fact that it removes make-up and impurities without great pressure and firm rubbing and, at best, also cares for the skin afterwards. Here, too, the skin type plays a role.

Oils are used for dry and sensitive skin. These not only dissolve make-up, but can also optimally moisturise and care for the skin. Products for oily skin, on the other hand, must do without oils and, on the contrary, even have a fat-dissolving effect. This removes the skin's natural barrier (similar to washing your hair), which makes it vulnerable and stresses it. Therefore, you should pay close attention to which products you use for skin cleansing, how your skin feels with them - and also how often you use the products. In contrast to the manufacturers, dermatologists often recommend not cleansing the skin too often so as not to stress the skin barrier. If you have problem skin, it's best to see a dermatologist first. He or she can explain to you how best to deal with your skin type.

What are the skin types?

Last but not least, let's take a closer look at the topic of skin types. What skin types are there, how can they be recognised and how can they be optimally cared for?

First of all, there is normal skin. This term stands for a balanced complexion and healthy skin. Sebum production and moisture are balanced and there are no abnormalities. Normal skin is neither too oily nor too dry, and it usually has fine pores - the ideal type. Unfortunately, this skin type is found almost only in younger people. When it comes to facial cleansing, the rule for this skin type is: less is more. Your body takes perfect care of your skin, so try not to create an imbalance by washing too often.

The next skin type is dry skin. It occurs when the skin lacks sebum or moisture, so there are two variants. Hormonal changes are often the reason for dry skin, but external factors such as dry air also play a role. You can recognise dry skin by the fact that it is taut and often appears rough and brittle. When choosing a facial cleanser, you should use oily and moisturising products.

To combat wrinkles, tired eyes or slightly sagging skin, you may want to consider a Anti Aging Cream try out.

The counterpart to dry skin is oily skin. Here, the body produces too much sebum, which causes the skin to shine and look unkempt, especially around the forehead, nose and chin. The skin also often looks sallow and tends to develop pimples. In addition to genetic aspects, it is above all Stress and hormonal changes play a role in the development of oily skin. Oily skin often occurs during puberty, pregnancy or hormonal changes caused by birth control pills. Here, too, you need a special facial cleanser, ideally in the form of a pore-deep foam.

Last but not least, there is combination skin. This type of skin has both dry and oily patches. The cheeks are usually too dry, while the forehead, nose and chin are too oily. Unlike the other skin types, this combination only occurs on the face. Here, the choice of a facial cleanser is particularly important, as the product must both degrease and nourish.

FAQ: Questions and answers

Does a face wash get rid of waterproof make-up?

Many products promise this, and as our test shows, some products can actually deliver on the promise, for example the cleansing oil from Nivea.

How often should I use a face wash?

For a definite answer, you should consult your dermatologist. Most of the time, the manufacturer will tell you how to use the product. However, you should also pay attention to how your skin is doing. Too frequent cleansing sometimes damages the skin.

Do I need to apply cream to my skin after cleansing my face?

That depends on the product. Some cleansers already nourish the skin with oils, but generally it is important to moisturise and protect the skin after cleansing.

Is there also facial cleansing for men?

Men also suffer from dry or oily skin, so you can use all products as a man. However, there are also special facial cleansers for men's skin.
