Where would we be without them? Whether it's a ponytail, plait, chignon or an elegant updo - hair elastics are always at our side, no matter what the style! The 6 best hair elastics

1st place: Invisibobble Original hair elastics

Hair tie

This hair tie is an absolute superstar! Never before has a product created so much buzz in the hair tie sector as the Invisibobble! It is a true legend - and therefore of course our number one! But what makes this scrunchie so special? The most important point is probably: it leaves no marks after wearing! Everyone knows it - most hair elastics cause an unsightly kink in the hair after opening a ponytail. You don't have to worry about that with the Invisibobble! Another argument: because it is made of plastic, it can also be worn in wet hair without any problems - which is often annoying with conventional hair elastics because they get soaked. The material is also an advantage in terms of hygiene, because it can be washed off easily. And now the absolute hammer: the Invisibobble has also been proven to prevent headaches and split ends! And: it's also chic as a bracelet! Perfect for all hair types! Do we need to explain any further why this miracle hair elastic is our absolute winner?

  • Does not leave marks
  • Washable
  • Avoids headaches and split ends

2nd place: Whaline Big Hair elastics Velvet Elastics

They also hold a high ponytail perfectly without it slowly sinking over time. They also look elegant and classy and are ideal for festive occasions. They are available in dark brown, camel, bean red, rosé, grey and black and come in a practical pack of six. So you can choose the right hair tie for every outfit. Ideal for medium to thick hair!

These premium hair elastics from Lebrüke are made of especially elastic cotton and hold your hair together perfectly. Nothing really slips. They also feel very comfortable to wear and are gentle on your hair because there is no metal sewn into them. And: they also last with very thin hair! The price-performance ratio is amazing: 50 (!) pieces are available for an unbelievably low price of 4.99 euros!

5th place: At This Moment - Sports Hairband

Hair band

Attention sports fans! This unique non-slip sports hair band is made for workouts! It really fulfils every requirement a sportsman can have for a hair band. Thanks to its non-slip material - a special silicone strip on the inside - it reliably keeps the hair exactly where it should be - out of the face - even during effective sports activities. At the same time, it feels extremely comfortable to wear. This product has been tested by many professional sportsmen and sportswomen from various fields (crossfit, tennis, bodybuilding, handball, yoga, football, etc.) and found to be excellent. It comes in a set of three in the colours blue, black and grey and can thus even be perfectly matched to the sports outfit. Thus, this hair tie is not only sporty, but also stylish at the same time. Top!

  • Anti-slip
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Tested by professional athletes

6th place: Feshfen hairpiece hair tie

Hairpiece hair elastic

With the Feshfen you get 100% human hair! And we're actually extremely excited about how well this very special hairpiece hair tie works for buns and generally updos for any occasion! It's not made of real hair, but it honestly looks and feels like it, as the synthetic hair used is particularly high quality, soft and dermatologically tested. It also smells wonderfully fresh! With this little wonder, it's child's play to secure the chignon and it won't slip because the hair tie has exactly the right tension. And it also provides unbelievable fullness! The hairpiece hair tie is easily washable with shampoo and therefore very easy to care for, as well as vegan and skin-neutral! So cheating with volume is definitely fun!

  • Great volume for chignon and updos
  • Easy care and washable
  • Vegan and skin neutral

What is a scrunchie?

A hair tie is, by definition, a ring-shaped elastic band that is used to bind hair together in thick strands and keep it in shape. Of course, hairstyles such as the classic ponytail, the braided pigtail or the chignon, which have gained enormous popularity among both women and men in recent years, are particularly popular. But hair elastics are also often used for elegant updos for very special occasions, in addition to bobby pins. A real all-round talent!

What should I look for in a hair tie?

Clearly, the most important component is hold! There is nothing more annoying than a hair tie that has no strength. The hairstyle becomes more and more lax over the course of the day until it dissolves completely. Yet you use a hair tie to hold your hair together reliably. This is especially important during sports! That's why there are even special products for this (as in our test). Nevertheless, when choosing the right hair tie, you should also make sure that it is as gentle on your hair as possible. Some products are equipped with a metal fastener that bends the hair and thus puts it under enormous strain.

This can cause the hair to break or even fall out. If the hair tie is too tight, this can also lead to health problems: Bad headaches and migraines can be the consequences in the long run. A final, but not unimportant point is the appearance: a scrunchie should not only be practical, but also serve as a chic accessory and, in the best case, also look good as a converted bracelet when it is not being used in the hair!

How a telephone cable became the trendy Invisibobble

Our test winner, the popular Invisibobble, has triggered a true revolution in the hair tie sector: almost every woman swears by it! Since its invention story is very exciting and also funny, we don't want to withhold it from you here: One evening, student Sophie Trelles-Tvede from Munich was invited to a "Bad Taste" party. With her outfit of brightly coloured batik blouse and sequined flared trousers, the only thing missing was an eye-catching accessory for her hair. That's when her eyes fell on the old phone in her flat and the perfect idea that would change the hair world forever was born: she simply unplugged the phone cord and used it as a scrunchie. Genius! Not only did she receive many compliments for it, but she was surprised to discover that even after a wild night of partying, the ponytail still held perfectly! Sophie had never experienced that with a scrunchie before! And it got even better: when she opened the hair, there was not a single kink to be found in it. This gave her the idea to make the trendy Invisibobbles, which we no longer want to do without today!

And the demand has been unstoppable since the international launch in 2013: their uniquely creative hair tie invention is now available in almost 60 countries around the world. What a fairytale success story!

Frequently asked questions: FAQ

What can I do to extend the life of hair elastics?

Simply place the scrunchie in a bowl of hot water and it will pull itself back together. Alternatively, you can also use a Hairdryer or put it on the heating. As soon as it is heated, it returns to its original shape!

I keep hearing the term scrunchie in relation to hair ties. But what is it actually?

A scrunchie is a voluminous, gathered and fabric-covered hair tie. It was already very popular in the nineties and today the hype is bigger than ever!

Why does a metal closure on hair elastics damage the hair?

It stresses your hair by squeezing it in the same place over and over again, thus destroying the cuticle. The hair can break as a result!

Is it true that it is unhealthy for my hair if I tie it every day?

Don't worry! Gentle hair elastics (as recommended in our test) will not harm your hair. Nevertheless, it is advisable to give your hair a little breather every now and then and to wear it loose so that it can breathe freely.
